Hi, I’m Sarabeth!

**Accepting Aetna/Cigna insurances and private pay**

I am passionate about helping people find purpose and joy in their lives! I have been a therapist for over ten years. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Supervisor (LCSW-S), Registered Play Therapist Supervisor (RPT-S), Certified FirstPlay ® Therapy Practitioner, Perinatal Mental Health-Certified clinician (PMH-C), and Certified Circle of Security Parenting Facilitator. I earned a Master of Social Work from Louisiana State University (Geaux Tigers!) and an Education Specialist degree in Counselor Education with a concentration in Play Therapy from the University of Mississippi. I began my work with children in schools and have since worked in a variety of treatment and community settings with people of all ages.

I believe in the power of PLAY! Play is essential across the lifespan, and I feel passionate about bringing playfulness, in one form or another, to therapy. Play is not just an action- it’s a feeling, an exploration, and a release. Play looks different at each age, but if you look closely enough you can see it. Play can include active engagement with toys, art, writing, or finding humor in a difficult situation. My goal is to provide a therapy space in which you and/or your child feel safe and comfortable to express, heal, and increase joy.

Whether you are struggling with experiences from the past or confronting challenges in the present (or both), we will work together to identify ways you can heal and achieve your goals. I use person-centered, solutions-focused, and cognitive behavioral approaches to help you address internal and external barriers to personal growth. I enjoy using expressive interventions, such as Sandtray and art, to develop new perspectives on challenges. As a Perinatal Mental Health-Certified therapist (and a mom!), I enjoy helping parents with perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, difficulty adjusting, and childhood trauma take care of themselves so they can take care of their child(ren) and partner.

Like adults, children experience mental health and behavioral challenges. Unlike adults, children are not able to verbally express the thoughts and feelings that may be causing internal strife or challenging behaviors. As a Registered Play Therapist, I am trained to use the child’s natural language of play to bring about healing, skill building, and an increased awareness of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. When your child engages in play therapy, I offer parent consultation sessions where you will develop new knowledge and skills to support your unique child.

Adolescence is a unique time in which children have a growing desire for independence and still need guidance and nurturance from parents and caring

adults. Adolescents can verbalize emotions, thoughts, and behaviors but may still struggle to make sense of them. It is a time of big exploration of self, family, peers, and goals. Some adolescents may need help forming a narrative of resilience around past and current difficulties while others may need support in managing negative self-evaluation, depression, or anxiety. Play, expressive arts, and talk therapy can be utilized in fun and challenging ways with adolescents.

Sometimes it is hard to identify one family member that needs therapy and yet the family is experiencing a period of difficulty. When the family bond or home environment just feels “off”, family therapy interventions or parenting education can be used to address problems of communication, behavior, or bonding, and more important, increase joy! I use Family Play Therapy techniques that encourage family members of ALL ages to take an active role in creating positive relationships. My additional training in models such as FirstPlay ® Therapy, Filial Therapy, Circle of Security Parenting, and Child-Parent Relationship Therapy uniquely qualify me to provide therapy and education to parent(s) of infants and toddlers to enhance bonding and attachment.

My greatest honor as a therapist is being welcomed into the lives of people on their path to healing and loving connection. Please reach out to our office today for a free 20 minute consultation to determine how counseling can support you and which therapist is the best fit.

I will work with you to determine your personal goals for therapy and the services and techniques that will help you meet them.
