Hi, I’m Megan!

I am an LPC-Associate practicing under the supervision of Dr. Jennifer Boswell. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Communication Studies at Texas Tech University. Afterward, I attended Texas’ number one educational program for Play Therapy at The University of North Texas. There, I earned my Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling specializing in child and adolescent therapy.

I believe that having a space of safety and understanding is vital to our success in navigating the difficulties and challenges that life presents to us. Therapy is also vital in individual growth and learning- not just the hardships. My goals in my therapeutic work with my clients is to help them process and understand the challenges, as well as, to learn about themselves, to heal, and grow, and highlight the aspects that make them unique. I have experienced the value in therapy myself and feel that my purpose is to offer this connection to others.

I provide services to individuals and groups, with concerns including, parenting, depression, anxiety, trauma, EMDR, and self-esteem. I enjoy being able to help clients, regardless of age, find their strengths, belief in self, and to help my clients navigate the many relationships and roles they have in life.

I thoroughly enjoy working with individuals across the lifespan and creating a space to communicate and express their needs in a way that is comfortable and developmentally appropriate. I believe people are individualistic and will relate to and engage in therapy in different modalities which we will explore throughout our time together.

I primarily focus on child and adolescent therapy. When working with children, I work within their language of play. Play is a child’s first language and primary way of communication. I believe through the process of play, children are able to express their feelings, emotions, thoughts, and needs. From there, we are able to work toward growth, individual goals, and provide space for healing.

Often, adolescents don’t feel heard and understood and it is my goal to provide a therapeutic environment that fosters trust to help them in their journey of healing. When working with adolescents, I meet them where they are at and create an environment comfortable for them to process struggles, grow, and develop skills that are advantageous to their futures.

I have experience in leading parenting groups such as, Child Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT) and Parenting After Divorce. Throughout CPRT, I provide support for parents and training on various ways they can reduce power struggles and increase understanding and connection between the parent-child dyad. In Parenting After Divorce, I support parents in learning to navigate the struggles of parenting through a separation or divorce. We walk through how to talk to children, how to set boundaries with an ex-partner, and finding themselves through and after the divorce process.

I am an EMDR (eye-movement desensitization and reprocessing) trained therapist. I received extensive training in working with trauma and integrating the brain to help process traumatic events. EMDR helps clients to reduce distressing symptoms, improves their view of self, and provides relief from bodily disturbances.

I have recently become a mom and have learned (and am continuing to learn) about this new identity and how to integrate this portion of me into my life. I understand first-hand the postpartum challenges that come along with the joy of having a child. I continue to learn how to process the good and the hard on the postpartum and parenting journey and have a passion for supporting others navigate this journey, as well.
