Hi, I’m Aubrey !

Supervised by Stephanie Farugia, LMFT
I am currently pursuing a Masters of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of St. Thomas. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology
from Baylor University (Sic ‘Em!) and discovered my passion for serving children and adolescents during my time in Waco.

Most of my experience comes from working with children and teens on the Autism spectrum. At Baylor, I worked in a behavioral therapy clinic and studied development and attachment. I believe forming relationships with special needs children has allowed me to connect with people of varying ages and diagnoses. These experiences honed my passion for giving a voice to those often left unheard and I learned to build trust and understanding with children through play and patience. Viewing all behavior as an opportunity for communication and learning informs my approach as a therapist. I genuinely value the opportunity to work alongside clients and their families.

My own experience as a client in therapy helps shape my outlook as a counselor. I take a person-centered approach to therapy, which means I meet each client with empathetic understanding and acceptance. My goal is to help clients and their families feel empowered, meaningful, and capable. To me, successful counseling involves a collaborative relationship. This foundation allows us to work towards overall wellness and self-discovery. I know first hand how powerful therapy can be, and I am grateful to be a part of helping others in their therapy journey.

I believe children are the most underserved population when it comes to mental health. I am passionate about finding unique ways to connect in their most natural language- play. I incorporate several techniques to create an interactive and engaging environment that suits each client. Children are intuitive and authentic; stepping into their world offers opportunities for learning that extend beyond the therapy room.

Please feel free to reach out with any questions. I look forward to speaking with you!
