Hi, I’m Alex!
“I’m Alexandria “Alex” Garza, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate (LMFT), EMDR Trained,
dedicated to guiding individuals, couples, and families through life’s challenges. I believe healing and growth are deeply personal and unique journeys, and I’m passionate about creating a safe, affirming, and collaborative space where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered.
My academic background includes a Master of Science in Psychology with a specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy from Our Lady of the Lake University, known for its strong clinical training. I also hold a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a minor in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of Alabama — Roll Tide! This training enables me to approach therapy systemically, recognizing how individual struggles are influenced by relationships, culture, and life context.

I work with diverse clients, including children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. My therapeutic style builds strong, authentic connections with clients of all ages and backgrounds, fostering an environment for open exploration.
I have a special interest in working with young children, starting at age four. I wholeheartedly believe play is a child’s natural language, utilizing play-based interventions to help them express themselves, build coping skills, and process complex emotions like anxiety, sadness, or grief. It’s rewarding to witness children heal through play. I also collaborate closely with parents and caregivers to extend the therapeutic process beyond sessions into the child’s everyday environment, and I continually deepen my expertise through supervision and consultation specific to play therapy.
In my work with adolescents, I create a safe, supportive environment for teens to explore emotions, identities, and challenges. Recognizing adolescence as a time of significant change and pressure, I support teens navigating school stress, peer relationships, family conflict, self-esteem concerns, and mental health issues such as anxiety and depression. I bring compassion, curiosity, and structure, helping teens develop emotional awareness and healthy decision-making skills.
I am deeply committed to helping couples foster greater understanding, intimacy, and communication. Whether clients seek support through major life transitions, recover from breaches of trust, or simply deepen their connection, I approach couples therapy with sensitivity and a collaborative spirit. I use Solution-Focused and Narrative Therapy techniques to explore patterns, shift unhelpful dynamics, and create space for new possibilities. My work with couples is inclusive and affirming of all relationship structures and identities.
Furthermore, I work with families navigating communication struggles, generational tension, parenting challenges, or the complexities of grief and trauma. I firmly believe families are powerful systems of support and change, helping members identify strengths, improve interaction patterns, and work collaboratively toward shared goals. By honoring each person’s voice, I facilitate mutual understanding and lasting connection.
My therapeutic foundation is rooted in strength-based and postmodern approaches, including Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Collaborative Therapy. I also integrate a Person-Centered lens, ensuring clients remain at the heart of their own therapeutic process. My work is trauma-informed and culturally sensitive, honoring unique identities, backgrounds, and lived experiences. I have particular experience supporting clients through grief, anxiety, trauma, life transitions, and relational conflict. I am passionate about helping clients identify their inner strengths and preferred ways of being, even in hardship.
Outside of my clinical work, you’ll often find me enjoying quality time with loved ones, reading a good book, or happily playing with my pets. I value ongoing personal and professional growth and am excited to continue deepening my skills and expanding my knowledge as part of the wonderful team at BPC.
